Hardware Repair Guides

Method

How I test

Every guide here started as a fault I’ve seen more than once. Dead power, a laptop that throttles, a disk that’s about to click itself into silence. I write the same order I’d run if you sat the machine on my table.

What “on the bench” means

Consumer laptops and desktops. I’ll go board-level only when it’s obvious and the parts are something you can do at home. I’m not pretending a kitchen table is a rework station. If it belongs at a shop (glued swollen pack, liquid under a shield, anything inside a PSU) I say so.

When a product shows up

I link a tool when it’s what I grab after the diagnosis. Not a roundup of ten almost-identical listings. I don’t freeze a price on the page. You get a live check-price link, marked (paid link), with rel="nofollow sponsored".

What I will not do

  • Recommend a motherboard before a charger has been proven.
  • Put a SATA-to-PCIe adapter in a GPU power path.
  • Publish a guide for a fault I have not isolated.
  • Hide the affiliate relationship in a footer nobody reads.
